Features
Background of the new 3001P / 7001DX series First we applied "Basic" improvements by building our own software program and IC chips with advanced functions. We added many advanced features including: An adjustable or disable-able auto off feature. This is very important to consumers because there are times that you may want to use your scale continuously for a long period of time. If the scale was turning itself off every 5 minutes (for example), this could really interfere with your work. Other times you might want to conserve power and have the scale turn off automatically after 1 minute of use. An adjustable audible beep function. Some people want to hear a "beep" whenever they press a button as confirmation. Other people get very annoyed by this and want the scale to be silent. Thus we made our beep function with an electronic on/off feature. An adjustable backlight time. When you turn on the backlight of your scale - do you want it to remain on indefinitely - or would you like it to turn off after 30 seconds to conserve power? With the 7001 you can decide how long the backlight should stay on for. A HOLD feature. We were often asked to add a HOLD feature to our scales. People complained that they would put an oversized box on the scale and couldn't read the display. So, we added a HOLD feature that holds the weight of an item on the display (simply put the box on the scale and press HOLD, then you can remove the box and see what the weight was on the display). An adjustable angle display. A common consumer complaint about the old 3001 and other kitchen scales is that it was difficult to read the numbers on the display. This is caused by a multitude of reasons but the biggest has always been viewing angle. It is impossible to design a fixed - angle display that can encompass all customers' needs. This is because every kitchen and office has a slightly different counter height AND every consumer's eyeballs are at different heights (this also varies due to varying shoes, distance from the scale, room lighting, reflections, glare and much more). These factors had to be considered over and over again. We realized the only solution was to invent and adjustable angle display. This way the consumer can move the angle of the display up or down until they find the optimum viewing angle. Next we made the display more than 3X larger then the previous display and added a backlight. Now we are confident that we have overcome the viewing angle problem entirely, and that the new 3001/7001 is the best designed kitchen office scale ever created to date. The next improvement was in the area of Modes. Our customers had specific needs, and we needed to accommodate every postal / shipping company. Thus we made the new Ultraship read in Pounds:Ounces, Pounds, Grams, Kilograms. This is very important because in the USA some people need their scale to display 5 1/4 pounds as "5lb : 4.0oz" and some people need it to be shown as "5.250lb". Likewise for Kilograms some people need 2.5 kilograms to be displayed as "2.500kg" and some people need it to be shown as "2500g". *one common mistake made by less-knowledgeable companies is to make their scales read in a straight Ounce mode. We have never had a customer need 5 1/4 pounds to be displayed as "64.0oz" - Please be careful and read the fine print if you consider a non My Weigh scale. Last but not least we designed intuitive attachments. Based on the wildly successful Ultraship, we designed a deluxe letter holder that can hold both small individual letters and large padded envelopes. It has a telescoping design so it can accommodate letters of every size. Next we designed a mail tube holder that cradles mail tubes - rather then crushing them as pop up covers often do. Our Tube and envelope attachments cradle items like a mother holding a baby, rather then the damaging compression technique used by older pop-up covers. Last but not least we designed a large square acrylic bowl which we include with every scale. This bowl fits snugly on the 3001P/7001DX. The 3001P and 7001DX are the standard by which all other kitchen and office scales will now be judged. There is simply no better mid-sized scale for your home, office or kitchen. NOTE: Now that we have posted this information for the whole world to read on our website, you can bet some of our smaller competitors will quickly alter their scales to read or perform in the a "similar" manner to the 3001/7001. We file patents for all of our inventions including the adjustable angle display. Sadly, My Weigh is the most commonly "duplicated" and "copied" scale brand. We are the industry benchmark that most other scale companies try to model themselves after. |

Low Batteries, bad battery connections & Faulty AC Adaptors are the #1 cause of scale malfunction and inaccuracy! We test all of our scale returns from consumers. Fully 60% of consumer returns are battery related problems. This sounds silly but it's true! A scale will perform slowly, or read inaccurately when it has low batteries. Please replace the batteries often (and only use good quality batteries). We include good quality batteries with all of our scales but batteries can run low in storage. If your scale simply won't turn on while on Battery power, this is often caused by loose battery connections. Battery prongs (terminals) are made of metal. They must be making good contact with your batteries in order for the scale to power on. You can use a paperclip to slightly bend the battery prongs to make them have a better connection. Also some poorly designed batteries have recessed or partially obstructed battery terminals. This may cause your prongs to be touching the plastic housing of the battery instead of the metal battery terminal. A Faulty AC adaptor can cause your scale to act unstable with numbers "jumping" all around. Please test your scale with a good set of batteries (instead of the AC adaptor) to determine if perhaps the AC adaptor is faulty.
TROUBLESHOOTING & OPERATION NOTES
1) If the scale does not perform accurately, please recalibrate as outlined in the manual.
2) If the Display ever becomes locked on EEEEE, this indicates that the scale was shocked, dropped or otherwise damaged and the delicate weighing sensors have been damaged. You can try recalibrating the scale (If the sensor has not been hurt too badly it may work again after recalibration). Otherwise you will have to follow the warranty instructions that came with your scale.
3) If the display becomes locked on 8888, this often indicates low power. However sometimes it also may indicate a serious zero mark error. This means when you turn the scale on, it can't determine what zero is (a slight zero mark error will cause situation #1 above) Thus, if new batteries do not fix this error please follow the warranty instructions.
4) If the display shows UNST, this means the scale is not stable. Try operating the scale on a more stable surface & be sure nothing is on the tray or stuck under the tray when you turn it on. If the problem persists, it may be an indication of fatal sensor damage.
5) If the scale is on AC power and it will not properly stabilize (fluctuating weights are shown on the display), this may be caused by a malfunctioning AC adaptor. Please try operating the scale on Battery power to see if the problem persists. If the problem does not occur on Battery power then it is a sign of a bad or improper AC adaptor. Please replace the AC adaptor. If the problem occurs on Battery power also, it may be a sign of environmental issues, please read the special warning in this manual.
Thank you for purchasing this scale. With normal care and proper treatment it will provide years of reliable service. Please read all operating instructions carefully before use.
PROPER OPERATION AND ENVIRONMENT
- Avoid lengthy exposure to extreme heat or cold, your scale works best when operated and stored at normal room temperature.
- Allow sufficient warm up time. Turn the scale On and wait several seconds to give the internal components a chance to stabilize before weighing.
- The cleaner the environment the better. Dust, dirt, moisture, vibration, air currents and proximity to other electronic equipment can all cause an adverse effect on the reliability and accuracy of your scale.
- Handle with care. Gently apply all items to be weighed onto tray top. Although this scale is designed to be quite durable, try to avoid rough treatment as this may permanently damage the internal sensor and void your warranty.
- Avoid shaking, dropping or otherwise shocking the scale. This is a precision instrument and must be handled with extreme care.
- Only operate the scale on a stable, vibration free surface.
- Do not operate near cell phones, radios, computers, or any other electronic device.

(Advanced users only) CALIBRATION
IMPORTANT: This scale was professionally factory calibrated before shipment. It does NOT need to be recalibrated before use and will not usually require calibration during its lifetime. However some advanced users who seek optimum accuracy may wish to calibrate the scale periodically to maintain perfect accuracy. Incorrect calibration can occur if you do not follow the steps exactly. You will need a 2kg weight (3001P) or 5kg (7001DX) weight to calibrate this scale.
1) Turn the scale OFF and place it on a FLAT, very stable surface .
2)
Press and hold UNIT and to turn on the scale, wait for the display to show “CALE”.
3) Place a 2kg (3001P) or 5kg (7001DX) weight on the tray, wait 3 seconds then press TARE. Calibration is complete.
NOTE: If after calibration your scale does not read accurately, this indicates calibration error and the calibration process should be repeated more slowly.
Please calibrate on a very stable flat surface!
INACCURACY/ERROR
The primary reasons for inaccuracy or malfunction are low batteries, incorrect calibration, overload or operating on an unstable surface. Please keep this in mind and maintain and operate your scale properly. The scale is a precise instrument and must be handled with the utmost care and caution.

§My Weigh, thanks , I knew I had the settings right, it was the load cell part
It had 2000+ as the starting number which means someone must have put
something too heavy on it I'm guessing, or maybe the store I bought it at
didn't take care of it and it was already over and something small I put on
it made it worse. (last one on shelf as demo)
Anyways, after I pried on the tray till it was around 950 (took awhile
because I'm scared of wrecking anything) it seemed to calibrate to 100.0 with
normal settings perfectly fine.
Thanks again,
Chris Kirby
