Advice on using your scale to cut back or quit smoking

Many smokers have shared their success stories with us on how they used a precision scale to measure their tobacco intake and then gradually
reduce their daily consumption. The method that seems to work best is a gradual approach.

  1. Begin by simply weighing the amount of tobacco you normally use for one cigarette. At the end of a day add up how many cigarettes you smoked and multiply that by the weight. This will give you your total tobacco-gram intake (eg 1.1 grams per cigarette x 20 cigarettes per day = 22 grams per day).
  1. Set a goal of reducing your tobacco by 10% every 3 days. Every day you should measure your tobacco out on your scale. Seeing your over all tobacco consumption by weight allows you to accurately know how much you are smoking.
  1. You can choose to make somewhat smaller or shorter cigarettes, or space out your consumption longer. Either method will achieve the same result.

Remember that you should customize your method to your particular situation. Try different methods until you find one that you are most comfortable with. The important thing is that if you measure and reduce your tobacco intake, you can accurately know how much you are smoking and
help yourself to quit at a slow & steady pace.
