The Flipscale is customizable. You can change the auto-off time and the default readings (g/oz/ozt/dwt). You can also increase the capacity (although it's not recommended). Each Flipscale has extra capacity built in to make it more durable. This is the best pocket scale ever created.
The Flipscale 125 is really an underclocked 250g x 0.05. The Flipscale 350 is really an underclocked 550g x 0.1. You can set the scales back to these higher capacities. However, we do not recommend doing so. Regardless, these instructions will help you customize your Flipscale.
- Turn the scale ON
- Press and hold the TARE and CAL/MODE keys at the same time until SET / UNIT appears on your display
- You are now in the advanced programming mode. CAL/MODE and TARE are the buttons you will use to set and then change each scale setting.
- Press CAL/MODE once and the display will show "A.OFF". This is the auto-off setting. If you want to change the auto off then press the TARE key. Now you are in the auto-off programming mode. Press CAL/MODE until you have set the desired amount of auto-off time. Your choices are in seconds: 120, 180, 240, 300 or OFF (meaning the scale will not auto off). Once you have chosen the amount of auto off time that you want press TARE to exit this mode.
- Press CAL/MODE again and "CAP." Will appear on your display. If you wish to overclock your scale press the TARE key (otherwise press CAL/MODE to go to the next setting). Now you are in the capacity settings. Press CAL/MODE to choose between the various capacity settings (don't set the Flipscale 350 any higher than 500). Once you have chosen your preferred capacity setting then press TARE to exit this mode.
- Press CAL/MODE again and "End" will appear on the display. Press the TARE key to exit advanced programming mode and save your new settings. You must exit this way or your settings will be lost. If you simply press OFF during advanced programming the scale will revert to the last saved settings.
Note: It is strongly recommended that you don't alter the capacity of the scale. This is for informational purposes only. If you ever exceed the recommended capacity of the scale you void all warranties. We can tell when a scale has been overloaded.
Also, if you increase the capacity, the scale will ask you for a 200g calibration mass instead of a 100g. It's a smart scale so it knows when you increase the capacity to change to a higher calibration mass setting in order to remain very accurate. If you change it back to the lower capacity settings, it will revert to asking for the 100g mass.
If you overclock the Flipscale 125 to 250g, there is an auto-revert feature that will cause the scale to read in 0.1g increments intead of 0.05g. The scale will go back to 0.05g increments if/when you change the capacity back to 125.
